Having reference and education in a resume is necessary in order to attract the attention of human resource manager of an organization to land a job. This is particularly true for people who have lost their jobs as a result of job cuts in their companies. Due to increasing recession, the backlog of unemployment is increasing day by day. As a result, the competition is very stiff to get jobs. The number of job opportunities is limited and the number of people applying for jobs is more. Since the supply of workforce is more than the demand, getting a job in any sector is not an easy task. More and more people are applying for jobs but opportunities are limited. Due to increase in the number of laid-off middle aged workers, the backlog of unemployed people is increasing along with fresh graduates hunting for jobs.

In such a scenario, reference and education are the most important factors which play a vital role in getting a job even in recession. Due to scarcity of jobs, the human resource department in any organization is very choosy in selecting candidates for job opportunities available within their organization. Hence, it is always advisable to add skills in your resume by pursuing short term courses related to your academic qualification. In order to get good reference, it is recommended to do part time jobs or short term jobs while you are pursuing your education. For example, you can do part time accountant job in a firm to gain experience and knowledge. This kind of job doesn’t pay much but it helps in gaining experience and building good reference.

For example, the ill-effects of terrorism can be explained to the children by giving reference of the fact that hundreds of people lose their lives in the terrorist attacks. Children start understanding the concepts taught by the books by relating them to the real world around them, this is the benefit of the education through reference. It gives them a realistic view of the subject in hand and helps them remember things better by relating them to the reference provided.

The core objective of reference and education is to educate individuals within society and prepare the youth for a better tomorrow so that they may become the next generation leaders capable of taking the nation to new heights of success by giving the correct direction to the nation through the wisdom and vision gathered by them from education.

When embarking on an educational course, just studying the curriculum is not enough; especially to gain a better understanding of the study material it is imperative to read more than just your course books, more so for professional courses. The process of researching and studying starts right from school. Projects are handed out to students so that they learn more about a particular topic and in order to do that, they have to find out more by referring to other books and sources to complete the given topic. The books are usually available at the library and one can find them under reference and education. Now reference books are those books that one can refer to for their course work or project work at the library itself. Such books are usually not given out to be taken back home. These books are either too large or too precious to be given on loan and thus stay in the library, also as it is used for reference, many other people may also need it for their work and therefore large tables are laid out at the library for one to sit and write. Some of the books that fall under reference are thesaurus, encyclopedia and dictionary to name a few. Also a collection of articles relating to a particular topic bound in one book is also called reference book.
A book when published by an author will show at the back; a bibliography of the sources and books they had referred to when writing this one. Today with everything going digital and online, libraries too have made books available in PDF format for people to access it from their computers. Reference and education books too are digitalized and made available to members of the library or for all at their own discretion. This way the actual reference books can be maintained properly. Some of the books are limited editions and so are kept away as they can not be replaced if damaged. Such books are then made available through an electronic or machine readable format. At the library they can be viewed on film or if digitized a copy may be given out then to be read on your laptop or iPad or any other device that can read the format.
It is always good to do research for your course work and projects, as the extra effort put in not only gets you extra points, you also end up learning something new.

It’s a fairly well known firm and one staffing agency mentioned there might be some issues with possible employers thinking that I might jump ship *if* the firm were to hire full-time. This staffing agency seems to have dropped me!

But in my eyes, nothing is set in stone and I shouldn’t have to worry that my freelance gig is stopping me from finding a better full-time job. But now after this I do wonder how to answer employers about the current freelance position.
